Criteria
- Applicants must be a South African citizen with a South African Identity Document (ID).
- The Admission Age is 18 – 34 years.
- The minimum academic entry level is Grade 12 (Matric)’ Or an NQF Level 4 qualification
- Applicants must have been involved in the film/audiovisual industry in any capacity or have studied film.
Required compliance documents and files
Compliance documents required to send clear and legible certified (no older than 3 months) copies of the following documents to complete your application.
- South African ID (scan both the front and back).
- The Matric (Grade 12) certificate OR The highest qualification certificate ( e.g N4, N5 and N6 / Higher Certificate / Diploma / Degree etc )
- A valid SARS Tax registration PDF document ( compulsory )
- Completed Trainee Detail and Affidavit
- 1 Min elevator pitch video recording introducing yourself, experience, qualifications etc.
(Important Note: Use Google Drive to send your elevator pitch videos. We do not accept WeTransfer files. Ensure to grant us access to your Google Drive folder, otherwise your application may be declined)
Selection Process
- Confirmation of the authenticity of supporting documents will follow.
- Candidates that fulfill the above-mentioned criteria will be selected to join the SA FILM Academy database as a Trainee or an Intern for an anticipated period of approximately 12 months.
Application Review:
Incomplete applications will not be assessed. The SA FILM Academy receives hundreds of applications each year, unfortunately we can only revert back to successful applicants. If you do not hear back from us, please consider your application unsuccessful.
NOTE
The SA FILM Academy only accepts a limited number of trainees. When the quota is reached, those who have not yet submitted all the required documentation will not be eligible for admission to The SA FILM Academy database. On the job training and internship is dependent on active film productions.

How to Apply
Step 1: Carefully read and understand the minimum requirements.
Step 2: If you meet the criteria, use a phone to record a one-minute elevator pitch video (Remember to indicate which Province you are from).
Step 3: Prepare your resume and compliance documents, then submit everything to the Admissions Department using the email link below.

PAID INTERNSHIPS
We do generate and manage paid 12-month MICT-SETA internships in partnership with host employers, for those successful applicants with the correct tertiary education qualifications. Commencement of paid MICT-SETA paid internships to be announced.
To be eligible for the internship program, candidates must hold a National Qualifications Framework (NQF) Level 5 qualification or above.
